When Are Five-Star Hotels Cheapest?
Five-star hotels are usually cheapest when demand is soft, but the pattern changes by destination type.

Business hotels can drop outside corporate demand
In cities such as Jakarta, Tashkent, Abu Dhabi, and Makati, business demand can shape pricing. Weekends, quiet corporate periods, and non-event dates may be better than midweek conference windows.
This is why a full-service city hotel can sometimes be better value than a leisure hotel with fewer facilities.
Resorts follow weather and holidays
Resort-style hotels often fall outside peak weather, school holidays, and local vacation periods. The trick is to avoid dates where low price means poor trip quality: extreme heat, heavy rain, or closed facilities.
Luxor, Marrakech, Nha Trang, and Olhão all need seasonal thinking.
Shoulder season is usually the sweet spot
Shoulder periods often combine decent weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices. They are also useful for heritage cities, where the destination does not depend entirely on beach weather.
Always check local holidays, religious calendars, major festivals, and conferences before assuming a date is quiet.
